Cities and Settlements (HABITAT)
Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. It will take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 – 20 October 2016, to reinvigorate the global commitment to sustainable urbanization, focusing on the implementation of a New Urban Agenda (building on the Habitat Agenda of Istanbul in 1996). It is also traces the linkages to the 2030 Agenda.
The WMG devised a working team to ensure the coherence between the platforms and implement a human rights framework to guarantee women’s human rights and gender equality bearing in mind social, environmental and economic justice.
We work under the leadership of the Women Partner Constituent Group (WPCG), which is one of the members of the General Assembly of Partners (GAP). The WPCG is facilitated by the Huairou Commission: Women, Homes and Communities.
