The Women’s Major Group is excited to share our feminist analysis of ‘Our Common Agenda’.
As the world is facing multiple unprecedented crises, how the United Nations will respond to these challenges will affect billions of lives throughout the world.
The “Our Common Agenda” (OCA) report includes the UN Secretary General’s key proposals across the 12 commitments from the Declaration on the Commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations as well as proposed key moments. It was created in response to a request from UN member states for a report-back with recommendations on how to move forward on current challenges.
But, does “Our Common Agenda” provide us with an impactful roadmap that can take us out of the multiple crises the people and the planet imminently face?
This is the question we address in our feminist analysis, which was drafted with the extensive input of our members. We point out key gaps, concerns, and recommendations regarding the OCA report, including on:
- Authoritarianism and anti-rights actors
- Corporate capture of the UN
- Gaps in consultations and the need for co-production. Who will be left behind?
- Gender analysis falls short
- Systemic and structural analysis is missing
