“An International Workshop on Statistical Classifications for ECLAC countries will be organized by UNSD in Havana, Cuba, on 25-28 September 2017. The workshop will be organized jointly with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Oficina Nacional de Estadística e Información of Cuba. The workshop will be coordinated with the Working Group on International Classifications (GTCI), operating under the guidance of the Statistical Conference of the Americas. The workshop will review progress made in the regional efforts, which have so far resulted in the development of training modules on classifications, translations of classifications and supporting materials, bilateral training exercises among member countries and linguistic tools to address terminological differences among countries that are difficult to address in classifications documents. The workshop will also address specific questions that have arisen in implementation efforts in the countries to provide conceptual guidance, especially focusing on the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) and the Central Product Classification (CPC)”.
